What’s Group got to do, got to do with it? What’s Group but a second hand treatment method?!!
Location:
The Cook Hotel Conference Center
3848 West Lakeshore Drive,
Baton Rouge, LA 70808
About the Institute: This fall, our institute focuses on the fundamental aspects of group treatment, with a strong emphasis on the “how.” While individual therapy is valuable, group therapy is equally effective and often overlooked. We’ll delve into the “who, what, when, where, and how” of group therapy, emphasizing concepts from Yalom. The entire event operates as a group experience, offering a day-long refresher or a chance to enhance your knowledge.
About the Speaker: Karen S. Travis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University. With extensive experience as a clinical social worker, group therapist, and educator, Karen runs a thriving private practice since 1992. She also works as a contract group therapist at Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health and Our Lady of Lake/LSU Psychiatric Residency Program. Karen is an adjunct faculty member at Louisiana State University and actively contributes to several professional organizations, including the Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health, Louisiana Association of Clinical Social Workers, National Association of Social Workers, American Group Psychotherapy Association, and Louisiana Group Psychotherapy Society. She has received prestigious awards such as the FAGPA and Social Worker of the Year for Louisiana.
